Google does not send people to your Facebook page

When somebody types plumber near me or best burger in Eureka Springs, Google shows businesses, maps, and websites. A Facebook page ranks poorly for those searches and often does not show up at all. So the customer who does not already know your name never finds you. Your regulars still see your posts. New people do not.

People check, and then they decide

Somebody hears about you from a neighbor and looks you up. On Facebook they land on a feed. Maybe the last post is from March. Maybe the hours are wrong because you changed them and forgot. Maybe there are three reviews from 2019. None of that is a lie about your business, but it is the impression they walk away with, and they make it in about eight seconds.

You do not own the page

Facebook decides who sees your posts and how many. That number has been falling for a decade. They can change the rules, restrict the account, or lock you out over something you did not do, and there is no phone number to call. Anyone who has lost a business page knows exactly how that feels. A website you own cannot be taken away.

There is no easy way to become a customer

On a website you have a button that says book now, get a quote, or call. On Facebook the path is message us and wait for somebody to see it. Half the people who were ready to spend money will not wait.

The fix is not to quit Facebook

Keep posting. Facebook is genuinely good at keeping your existing customers warm. What it is bad at is finding you new ones.
